Indulgence, Not Compulsion - A Discussion on Addiction and Recovery
All of us indulge in the things which bring us pleasure – and why wouldn’t we? That’s what life is for!
But what happens when our indulgences take control of us? When we feel an urge, or a compulsion, to indulge or over-indulge? We no longer enjoy the pleasure… We need it. We become addicted to it. Whatever brought us pleasure in the beginning becomes a physical or psychological need for us to keep going and face the world every day.
